As an apology for my absence I have decided to do a small 'in the style of...' tribute series to my favourite Aminus3 bloggers.
I haven't asked permission to do this so I hope I do not offend with these humble offerings.
Finally for this series is my tribute to Lilly and Ronnie over at Our Two Sense. These two somehow keep coming up with ingenious couplings; putting two images together that show something of the personalities of each without passing judgement.
But their portfolio does not just consist of images showing their differences and similarities, nay, these images are also inrticately constructed to provide tantalising merges and quality compositions.
I think it is worth taking a look at their entire blog (they have only posted around 40 images at point of writing) otherwise you might miss some gems like this.
Their images are always accompanied by captions, which allow further insight into their shared but seperated existence. Obviously both these images are mine but I'm going to write two captions anyway just for realism! =D)
L: Now where did I put the sat nav? - Oh! I've forgotten to tax the camper van, I'll need to do that now the sun is out.
R: Finally, some sunshine, time to get the bike out of storage... now where did I put the oil can..?
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!
Dan

@Observing: Well I hope so. either way it was fun for me to do =D)
nice 'found' composition and pairing - good color!
6 May 2008 5:27am
@djedfre: Yes, I believe L&R put a lot more time and thought into their shots - the 'found' element lets this tribute down but its the thought that counts right? lol
Enjoyed this series! Very well done.

@Betty: Thanks Betty =D)
Great. I agree that they have an amazing blog. Nice tribute.

@GJC: Thanks - seems like I'm preaching to the converted lol!
You've got 'em down pat, my friend. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," as my old uncle used to say.
6 May 2008 6:51am
@Viewfinder: Well, this was just a one off and intended to flatter! So your uncle was right =D)
I like that style of caption.

@Dylan: It comes across as much more natural when ronnie and Lilly do it =D)
Not sure whats going on here doc, i must of missed something
6 May 2008 9:12am
@Peter Miller: More likely that I've missed the mark on this one Peter. Unless, that is, you haven't seen the 'Our Two Sense' photoblog on Am3, in which case I imagine you will be confused!
very interesting idea ! ... well done , thanks.

@yiannis krikis: Cheers yiannis =D)
Our two senses is great, and you have done great justice with this style. A great finale to a great series.

@Graham Russon: Thanks Grazy =D)
Nice one. I check out Our Two Sense all the time. They always make me smile. I've noticed L almost always seems to lead the more laid back existence. Anyway, great tribute, but a small critique might be that both L & R usually have better lighting in their shots.
6 May 2008 6:21pm
@danthro: Thanks for the comment danthro =D) Ronnie and Lilly usually get me smiling too. Yes, the lighting on these shots is not so good, both were using available light. This was my most challenging tribute shot, which is why I put it off and put it off. I'm not totally happy with it but I couldn't put it off any longer lol!
I definitely see the similarity. Great job, Dan! You're trying to do the job of two.... think like two different people with different interpretations of one theme. Well done!! And I see why you'd put this one off for a bit.

@amy: Thanks Amy, this was definitely the most difficult for that reason!
Dan i prefer the bottom one, i'm a bike freak, it might be raining i always ride my bike.
10 May 2008 4:01pm
@pedro alexandre: Hey! A fellow biker =D) I'm the same, I ride whatever the weather - I love it! Of course its better when the sun is out, and that is the only time I can get a girl on the back. But its not the best form of transport for lugging a tripod and photography gear around!
