As an apology for my absence I have decided to do a small 'in the style of...' tribute series to my favourite Aminus3 bloggers.
I haven't asked permission to do this so I hope I do not offend with these humble offerings.
This, I hope, is a suitably layered tribute to Amy over at Cute But Stupid. I always like to check on Amy's portfolio because it is evident from her photographs how much she loves photography. Plus she is really friendly and helpful and really helps make this place feel like a community =D)
Every once in a while she gets creative with Photoshop and produces beautiful, brooding and strangely haunting photomontages like this and it is these that have inspired todays 'in the style of...' tribute image.
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!
Dan

@tilala: Thankyou, its not quite as subtle as Amy's work but I like how it has turned out.
I love the birds in this.

@Gary: Actually Gary, I stole the birds from this shot, which you have seen and commented on already (although the birds didn't get a mention). But I'm glad you like them =D)
It's Art.. it's good Dan

@Observing: Thanking you, sir! =D) I did basically steal the idea from Amy though so she gets 'creative director' credits =D)
OMG Dan!! This is stunning!! An absolute brilliant piece of art. Wow! I'm gobsmacked and feel very humbled. LOVE loVe LovE how that frost image you posted gives this piece such an incredible texture layer. The dream quality of this is... perfect. Thank you so much for kind words and encouragement. ;-)

@amy: Thanks Amy, I'm so glad you like it (although I was pretty sure you'd like that frost layer lol!) =D)
Looks like a painting, excellent work!
5 May 2008 9:37am
@Betty: Thanks Betty =D) The 'base' shot is a grainy film shot taken with a disposable point and shoot and I think the frost texture layer breaks up the image even more so that it starts looking more like a painting than a photograph. Amy is usually more subtle with her images but I seem to have problems with subtlety lol!
what a shot and effect! It looks like an art as it is. greatly done, drphoto.

@Viewfinder: Well, I confess I had some inside knowledge where that was concerned; she gave me an outline of her workflow some time ago after I expressed some curiosity at how she had achieved the dark-dream quality in her images.
Hats off and on bended knee here mate. Stunning series of images and LOVE the tribute idea. Bravo.
