Spring showed its head for a few days last week, some blue skies and fluffy white clouds passed us by anyway. This is such a rare sight that I went out and grabbed some pictures of local landmarks set against these nice skies.
Spring in Newcastle is more about heavy showers than anything else but at least the dramatic rainclouds are more interesting to look at than flat, grey winter skies! This is the newest of our bridges over the river Tyne -a pedestrian brisge called the millenium eye (yes, just like that big ferris wheel in London except this actually looks like an eye when it is reflected and was built first as far as I know).
It got me thinking of a project. I might do a photographic tour of my home town. This will be a lengthy project probably taking many months in order to get the best shots for each lcation (we have 6 bridges, two of which are allegedly world famous, and lots of cool modern architecture as well as old, listed buildings).
Is anybody interested in seeing these? If it sounds too dull let me know because it will be a big project to take on!
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!

@Peter Mannfolk: Thanks Peter =D) I'm going to start shooting in earnest this week but it will be a while before the shots make it onto here.
Beautiful, sharp detail and terrific composition against that dramatic sky. The bridge really is a cool example of modern architecture. I think a series on Newcastle is a terrific idea – it gives us, your viewers something, as well as providing you (hopefully) with a fresh new look at your city.

@Michael Skorulski: Thank you for the compliment! It is not HDR, just a good exposure =D)

@Melissa W.: Thanks Melissa, those buildings are also new; apartment blocks and one a renovated old building, used to be a mill now its an art gallery =D)
Fabulous shot with great light, showing off the bridge very well. Such a neat looking composition, and this is due to your care in aligning everything so well. The project sounds like a great idea. I''m looking forward to seeing what comes out of it.
By the way, I love that bridge of yours that looks rather like a slimmed down version of our Sydney Harbour Bridge.
@Andrew Gould: Thanks Andrew, I'm flattered.
I too love the Tyne Bridge (came before the Sydney habour bridge, same engineers). I will be posting pictures of that too at some point =D)
That's quite dramatic architecture, fits well to the environment!

@MadScientist: Thanks!
Very good placement of the bridge so you take advantage of its remarkable line. I find the copyright too distracting and it takes away from the overall power of the image.

@GJC: Sorry about that GJC; these are copies of images I was emailing to a company to see if they wanted to use them but had been warned to copyright because they have a habit of just taking...
