Spring showed its head for a few days last week, some blue skies and fluffy white clouds passed us by anyway. This is such a rare sight that I went out and grabbed some pictures of local landmarks set against these nice skies.
This one is a new entance arch that has been erected at the end of china town. The odd thing is, to the left of the frame is an Irish Center and to the right is a new governemt building and some old ruins. 'Chinatown' is actually only a small street, the rear of which is framed by the arch in this shot.
It got me thinking of a project. I might do a photographic tour of my home town. This will be a lengthy project probably taking many months in order to get the best shots for each lcation (we have 6 bridges, two of which are allegedly world famous, and lots of cool modern architecture as well as old, listed buildings).
Is anybody interested in seeing these? If it sounds too dull let me know because it will be a big project to take on!
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)

@Betty: Thank you kindly! x
It sounds like a multi cultural area. The arch is magnificent, I love the angle of this shot and I for one can't wait to see more.

@MaryB: Ha ha! Yes, quite =D) Thanks Mary.
A unique monument, very scurrile for a European city, I think. But a beautiful one :)

@MadScientist: It is quite a mis-match of architecture and designs in my city - postmodern schizophrenia perhaps.
I know it well, and you've got it just right here. Excellent :)

@Observing: Thank you! =D)
Funny how these "gates" are all the same in every city... well, at least all the cities I've been to. Again, excellent pov. The detail is excellent and I do appreciate the irony of the juxtaposition. ;-)

@amy: Thats capitalism at work!
Great shot and nice angle. The sky is fantastic. In my opinion, I do find the bottom left a bit busy and distracting with the green bin and white truck. Perhaps a tighter crop.

@Graham Russon: Thanks Graham, I did try a tighter crop but didn't like the result but maybe a vignette will draw atention back into the image...
great composition and perspective. the sharpening and detail feel a little weird on the background

@danthro: Yes, I am at fault there, I should have sharpened selectively but laziness got the better of me and I just applied it to the whole image. Thanks for the compliments.
GOOD JOB

@deny: Thanks! =D)
Great angle on this one. The gateway positively towers over the scene here. Looking foward to seeing that coming series.
