This shot was taken near Arelsford Creek in Colchester, its a step away from my usual subject matter as well as my usual style (although I guess it is still more of a 'water & skyscape' than a traditional landscape). I just wanted to include this as another nice summery shot. hopefully by the time your viewing this Sring will have actually arrived!
That brings us to the end of my landscape series. I hope you enjoyed it!
I've spent most of last month working on images to put on my (currently under construction) website. Most of them I won't be posting here but landscape photography is the area I'm most interested in getting into so I figured, why not put them out there (or on here)!
I am 80-90% satisfied with these images; I like to photograph wild places and dramtic landscapes but I'm not sure if my processing seems a little... amature. So please be as harsh as you can regarding post processing as well as composition, lighting, subject matter etc: I'm looking to improve!
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!

Great angle, love the tilt and the texture of the planks.

@bm: Thanks!
The wood has some georgous honey tones and the textures are wonderful. The sky and water are really beautiful and I love the angle too. I have really enjoyed your landscape series Dan, it has certainly given me an idea of what to look for when I get out and about this summer. :)

@MaryB: Thanks Mary, thats really flattering to think that I have given you some ideas =D)
Great Stuff, gives a definite feeling of having to keep ones footing, or you might get wet.

@pLusOne: Thnk you!
I like this one a lot - you can't say the horizon is in the center of the image!! The angle and strong diagonal lines makes this really interesting, as well as the colors and textures of the wood and water. Well done!!

@Chris: Ha ha, certainly not lol! Thanks Chris.
I really like the angles.

@Viewfinder: Cheers.
You know? I really like the angle you've used. I didn't on my blog watch thumbnail but in full view it really works. Have really enjoyed your series... bring on the next one!!!
15 Apr 2008 9:58pm
@amy: Ha ha ha! Well, I'm glad it exceeded your expectations. I've had that happen to me before, where the thumbnail doesn't look good and then you open it and suddenly your opinion changes =D)
That is the last landscape for a while amy, the 'next ones' are all HDR cityscapes.
Superb perspective! I like the mossy ramp.

@JustShenn: lol! thanks =D) It was a nice little area to relax - and take pictures obviously !
I have just watched your portraits as you put a link. I did comment some of them that you post on aminus3. I like very much the woman with the red dress in front of the tomb. About this picture I feel that the horizon line works well this way and make a very dynamic picture. The only thing I don't like too much is the first boat (high contrast, main subject?) which is partially hidden by the peer. I don't know what would be best to do... clone, darken the hull or increase the size of the pylone to cover it more...?

@akarui: Hi, thanks for another great comment. I am surprised you're the first to mention that boat. I really didn't want it in the shot and it is a bit overexposed. I have considered cloning it ou before but not sure I have the skill or the patience lol!
