This seascape is from whitley bay; a lot closer to home! This is St Mary's lighthouse seen from one of my favourite places to stop before going home after taking the Ducati out for a thrash =D)
In reality, the rainbow was only visible against the darkest grey of the clouds, so I used Photoshop to add in a full rainbow to make this shot a little more interesting.
I've spent most of last month working on images to put on my (currently under construction) website. Most of them I won't be posting here but landscape photography is the area I'm most interested in getting into so I figured, why not put them out there (or on here)!
I am 80-90% satisfied with these images; I like to photograph wild places and dramtic landscapes but I'm not sure if my processing seems a little... amature. So please be as harsh as you can regarding post processing as well as composition, lighting, subject matter etc: I'm looking to improve!
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!

Great shot with Perfect perspective and you did well with the rainbow by the photoshop.

@pLusOne: Thanks, that was my first time making a rainbow so I had to make sure I didn't get carried away!
Nice shot, I like it ;)

@Shaahin: Thank you! =D)
Phenomenal, I love it :)

@Lorraine: Phenomenal? You flatter me =D) Thanks!
Beautiful...

@Betty: Thanks =D)
Very nice image, I like the composition and the colors a lot. The sky is a little blown out for me though, and the lighthouse gets a little lost against the light. Not sure if you could have adjusted that or not (the white lighthouse was probably tricky against a light background).

@Chris: Thanks Chris. I think this one is my least favoutite of the bunch. It was not a great exposure to start with - just a snap which has undergone a fair bit of post processing.
Amazing shot, love how the path leads across to the lighthouse

@Observing: Its funny you should say that, I know you were talking about how I have comoposed the shot but, in reality too, thast path curves to the right around the rocks and then does lead across to the lighthouse. It would have been visible in the shot except that the tide is in so the path is flooded.
A double rainbow must bring good luck.

@Ana Lúcia: Ha ha! Even one that was faked in Photoshop?
Great Shot. There's something about this I really like...

@mohammad: Thanks!
beautiful composition and color:)

@Will: Thanks Will
beautiful land(sea)scape. love the way the path directs the eye straight out to the island with the lighthouse. gorgeous...
12 Apr 2008 3:19pm
@paulski: Thanks Paulski, this was done more intuitively than on purpose - when the tide is out the path really does lead to the lighthouse =D)
Very pretty. The rainbow is captured with excellence.
12 Apr 2008 4:24pm
@Earnest: Thanks Earnest but I'm afraid only one small part of the rainbow was visible when I took this shot, the rest has been faked in Photoshop!
Beautiful seascape, you're a lucky man to have this place near your home. A good way to go back to one's roots. I imagine you, walking on the little way foreground, waiting for the good light. And if one day it's no good you can come back the next day, up to this day where you shot THAT !!
12 Apr 2008 4:36pm
@Evelyne Dubos: You are right, I have been there several times before taking this shot =D) I will keep going back until I get it perfect but for now, I am happy with this one. I'm glad you like it!
I like it, washed out or not. It has great balance with the eye being led in nicely with that walkway. It has a wildness that is just mesmerizing.
12 Apr 2008 8:41pm
@amy: Thanks, I want to go back and capture it when it is even more wild with the waves crashing over those rocks - I'm luckyin that its close enough to go back whwnever I feel like it =D)
I LOVE lighthouses and that is a beauty. The double rainbow is wonderful along with the entire atmosphere of this image.
12 Apr 2008 9:46pm
@Laurie: Thanks, I'm a big fan of lighthouses too =D)
nice and very dramatic, i like the rainbow.
13 Apr 2008 4:33am
@pedro alexandre: Thanks Pedro. =D)
nicely composed - everything plays well together the path and rocks in the foreground, the ocean, the lighthouse and the clouds in the background - very well balanced light as well!

@DarkElf: Thank you kindly =D)
Wow, great shot. The composition is fantastic.
13 Apr 2008 3:24pm
@Graham Russon: Thanks, I think I will go back and shoot a proper Pano though rather than cropping into the frame.
beautiful seascape! if i didn't know a bit about your work i wouldn't have guessed the rainbow was added. but i think it would be beautiful without it too.
13 Apr 2008 5:48pm
@danthro: Thanks =D) It was just too frustrating for me seeing that little bit of real rainbow - I wanted the whole thing! Maybe I should have been happy with what I was given but I always seem to be wanting more lol!
This one leaves me speechless! Bravo!!!

@Vikram: Thanks Vikram. It seems strange to me as this is a sight I see often but I'm glad you like it =D)
Beautiful shot. You must be spending a lot of time responding to all the comments you get.
14 Apr 2008 11:08am
@Twelvebit: Thanks 12bit =D) It does get a bit much if I leave it for a few days but I'm hardly about to complain!
This is a beautiful image. Very dramatic with the exposure and processing you've used.

@Andrew Gould: Thanks A.G. - I'm glad you like it =D)
Wow! Superb job! This is really amazing, Dan. I really have nothing else to add that hasn't been said before...this is just brilliant.

@Melissa W.: Ha ha! Thanks Meliissa, a reaction like that always makes my day =D)
Excellent picture with the pathway leading the eyes to the lighthouse. The double rainbow is a bonus...
