After the sun had set I packed up and prepared to leave, foolishly thinking I had seen it all. As I approached the causeway to the mainland I was presented with this gorgeous afterglow.
I simply had to stop my motorbike and take some more shots. There were many other people taking pictures, including a few pro's wh'd had the sense to pack a tripod! One day soon I will go back there fully prepared. In the meantime I think this shot came out nicely.
I have no idea where the mark in the top right corner has come from. It is certainly not there in the shot I uploaded!
I've spent most of last month working on images to put on my (currently under construction) website. Most of them I won't be posting here but landscape photography is the area I'm most interested in getting into so I figured, why not put them out there (or on here)!
I am 80-90% satisfied with these images; I like to photograph wild places and dramtic landscapes but I'm not sure if my processing seems a little... amature. So please be as harsh as you can regarding post processing as well as composition, lighting, subject matter etc: I'm looking to improve!
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!

@Levine: Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot and its nice of you to express them =D) Yes, I love motorbikes - its the best way to travel (although not very practical for a photographer ha ha!).
This is a great shot, and just as well you spotted it. I read an article recently by a pro, who reckons that the best sunset shots are taken 10-40 minutes after the sun has set. You prove him right with this one.

@Graham Russon: Yes I agree; the afterglow is much easier to photograph because the Sun is not ruining your metering - I love sunset shopts though so I wouldn't like to compare the two types of shot and find one wanting.
Really a beauty, Dan!! Those pink hues are truly incredible. And the foreground meets the sky/horizon brilliantly.

@amy: Thanks Amy =D)
Wonderful sunset.. The mark which you didnt see when the picture was uploaded, could be an early wishsing star, could it?

@Kleos: Thankyou =D) Sorry, not that mark (I like that strak of cloud) there is a dirty blemish right in the top right corner but it is really not so distracting - I shouldn't have mentioned it.
Well worth the stop I reckon, and I know what a pain it is to remove helmet and cloves etc. Not a bad effort at all, hand held at 1/10 sec. Good job matey.

@Stu: Cheers mate, I had the camera resting on my tank bag (which I had removed from the bike) for stability. Once again, I was on my belly getting dirty =D)
I'm glad you didn't miss this one Dan, it's really stunning!
