To see this month out I'm going to upload some cityscapes/architectural shots. I spend most of my time in cities so I have many, many pictures of them. I struggle most with city shots though. I come home with hundreds of pictures but only 2 or three decent shots! Here are some of them.
This is one of the few shots you will ever see me post that was taken back in my days of shooting on film.
These arches are in the castle at San Juan, Puerto Rico. I like the play of shadow and light and the different shapes represented by the concrete tiles and the arches and pillars. I also love the texture of the walls.
I welcome all constructive comments, compliments and criticisms. I am here to learn. the fastest way for me to learn is for you to be really unforgiving and articulate in your criticism =D)
If you don't have time to comment don't forget to give a star rating as you pass through!

Outstanding architecture, love the walls, the angle you took it, the textures, the columns with the opening and shadows, I'd give it a high five if it weren't for the sky, it distracts from the feel of this marvelous composition, I'd crop it out ;)

@Lorraine: You're right about the sky - especially as it didn't respod well to processing. I tried to upload a cropped version of this here instead to show you how right you are but it doesn't seem to work!
Oh no, wait, it has worked yay!
Wow, the linear definition of this photo is striking. I love it.

@Viewfinder: Thanks (although I had to look up 'linear definition' lol)!
Nice repetitious pattern running along the arches.

Magnificent angle! I love the shadows and the walls look really antique. Love it.

great depth and perspective here... as for the sky, I think I agree with Lorraine.. This would be a tremendous B&W as well.. with some dodging and burning on those textured walls

@Betsy Barron : www.thebetsy.com: Yes, I agree about the sky - now that I see it its obvious! So I have already gotten rid of it. I did try it in b&w but I need to improve how I convert to b&w because I wasn't happy with it!
Fantastic shadows and composition.
